The Hexstone Kitchen

Nestled in the historic Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, our Tudor Townhouse Project is surrounded by winding, tree-lined streets and a mix of Tudor and Georgian architecture. Designed for walkability and convenience, the area features a quaint town center and a commuter train station with easy access to Manhattan.

SQUARE FOOTAGE

The first floor of this home seamlessly blends historical charm with modern functionality, featuring a kitchen with backyard access, a dining room, and a living room. Our design and renovation efforts focused on transforming the kitchen, replacing builder-grade cabinetry with a thoughtfully reimagined layout. The space now boasts shaker cabinets in Bilboa Mist by Benjamin Moore, complemented by handmade hexagonal floor tiles and a show-stopping range set against a marble backdrop.

To enhance natural light and historical integrity, we specified and installed historically accurate French doors and windows leading to the backyard. The dining room received a fresh coat of paint, and new French doors now elegantly separate it from the kitchen. While the home’s original layout was preserved to reflect its era, subtle updates were made to create a more intuitive flow.

In the living room, the existing fireplace lacked historical significance, so we reimagined it with fluted terrazzo cladding, accented by a Nero Marquina insert and coordinating floor treatment for striking contrast. Every furnishing was carefully selected to accommodate a modern family of four, with warm tones and rich textures defining the aesthetic. Custom bookshelves are adorned with art plates from various artists, adding layers of personality and depth to the space.
